More than 1.5 million people have already been vaccinated with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V against coronavirus, according to a press release from the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which oversees the creation of the drug, שרייבט מאָסקווע קארעספאנדענט אַלעקסי איוואנאָוו.

Recently it was reported that Russia is the leader among all European countries in the number of vaccinated against COVID. According to official sources, by January 9, 2021, more than a million Russians were vaccinated. Exactly the same data was announced by the creators of the vaccine on 6 January.

The headquarters of the Federal government does not publish exact figures of vaccination in Russia. Previously, only the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko reported data on the total number of vaccinated Russians — according to him, by 2 January, 800,000 people had been vaccinated against COVID-19 up to date.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that around 50,000 people were vaccinated in the city by the New Year. According to the authorities of St. Petersburg, by 10 January, 13,000 residents of the city had been vaccinated against coronavirus.

The first Russian vaccine against the coronavirus, Sputnik V, was registered on 11 August, 2020. Currently in Russia, in parallel with the civil circulation, the post-registration study of the vaccine continues. According to Interfax news agency, applications for the purchase of more than 1.2 billion doses of the Russian vaccine were received from more than 50 countries around the world.

Mass vaccination started in Russia in the beginning of December. First of all, certain categories of citizens receive vaccinations: for example, doctors, teachers, media workers, and energy workers.

“I know that more than two million doses have already been produced or will be produced in the next few days, and the production of the world's first registered vaccine against coronavirus infection, Sputnik V, will reach this level”, President Putin said.

The Russian vaccine has become very popular abroad. Unlike the AstraZeneca vaccine, the Russian equivalent does not yet have any noticeable failures in use and, especially, deaths after vaccination. In addition, experts in Russia claim that the Russian drug is able to cope with different variants of COVID 19.

Many countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia have already sent their applications to receive the vaccine. Serbia was among first European states that received a large number of dozes of Sputnik V to vaccinate its population.

More than 71.3 million people have been vaccinated against coronavirus in 57 countries. Such data is provided by Bloomberg.

It is noted that, according to the latest data, an average of 3.57 million people are vaccinated every day around the world.

Vaccination in the United States began on 14 December, medical workers received the vaccine first. It is noted that at the moment 24.5 million people have already been vaccinated.

A total of 3,774,672 cases of coronavirus have been identified in 85 regions in Russia to date. For the entire period, 71,076 deaths have been recorded in Russia.
