The Commission has launched a call for projects to develop a curriculum and teaching material for a course on the European Union and EU cohesion policy for future journalists. Cohesion and Reforms Commissioner Elisa Ferreira said: "The Commission has responded to the request of many EU students to launch this call which would provide an extraordinary opportunity to stimulate academic debate on the EU and on EU cohesion policy, as well as to improve the level of knowledge of students and to foster co-operation between universities and other EU institutions."

Beneficiaries will have to put in place a development strategy, create a network of higher education establishments and develop their teaching. Proposals can be submitted by universities and other journalism education institutions at the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates must be located in an EU member state and be accredited according to the legislation in force in that country. The Commission will cover 95% of the cost of the project. The deadline for submitting applications is 21 April, 13h CET. The Commission plans to communicate the results in June.
